[천연기념물 제211호 무안 용월리 백로와 왜가리 번식지 (務安 龍月里 白鷺와 왜가리 繁殖地)]

백로는 주로 열대에서 온대에 이르는 전세계에 널리 번식하며 우리나라에서는 백두산 고원지대를 제외한 전지역에서 번식한다. 이른 봄부터 늦가을까지 하천, 호수, 간석지 등에서 볼 수 있으며, 주로 소나무, 은행나무 등에 둥지를 만들어 번식한다.

왜가리는 우리나라의 백로과 조류 중에서 제일 큰 새로, 우리나라 전지역에 걸쳐 번식하는 여름새이다. 일부 적은 무리는 남쪽지방과 섬지방에서 겨울을 나는 텃새이다. 논, 하천, 해안, 간석지에서 살며 개구리, 물고기, 뱀 등을 잡아먹는다.

무안 용월리의 마을 앞 저수지에 있는 백로 및 왜가리 번식지에는 약 500마리의 왜가리가 4그루의 팽나무에 둥지를 틀어 번식하고 있다. 또한 마을 앞 청룡산 번식지에는 약 600마리 정도의 백로와 왜가리가 집단 번식하고 있다.

무안 용월리 백로 및 왜가리 번식지는 우리나라에서 가장 많은 백로와 왜가리가 번식하는 장소 중의 하나이므로 천연기념물로 지정·보호하고 있다.

[영문 설명]

An egret lives widely in the tropical and temperate regions and in all areas in Korea except the highland in Baekdusan Mountain. It reproduces in Korea from early spring to late autumn, and it can be seen in streams, lakes, and tideland.

It reproduces mainly in a pine tree and a ginkgo tree. The grey heron is the biggest bird in the white heron family, reproducing in all areas in Korea in summer. A small group of herons spend winter in the southern region and island region. It lives in a rice field, a stream, a coast, and a tideland and feeds on frogs, fish, and snakes.

About 500 grey herons build a nest and reproduce on 4 nettle trees in the egret and grey heron habitat in Yongwol-ri, Muan. About 600 white herons and grey herons live in groups in the Cheongnyongsan Mountain habitat.

The egret and grey heron habitat in Yongwol-ri, Muan has been severely damaged due to environmental pollution. Thus, egrets and grey herons have become rare. Therefore, they are designated and protected as a natural monument.

돼지고기볶음(주문 시 손님 기호에 따라 돼지고기 살코기, 비계 부위를 조절해 썬다. 즉석 양념 후 볶아낸 돼지고기볶음이다. 콩나물, 무절임, 시금치, 갓김치, 마늘, 고추, 된장, 밴댕이젓, 상추, 묵은 김치, 공깃밥, 시래깃국 등을 함께 곁들여 먹는다.)

돼지고기볶음(주문 후 돼지고기를 두툼하고 투박하게 썰어 대파, 당근, 고춧가루 등이 들어간 매콤하고 달금한 양념에 즉석에서 버무려 볶아낸다. 매운맛 강하지 않은 양념이 입혀진 존득한 껍질, 살강하게 씹히는 고소한 비계, 보들보들 씹히는 살코기 등이 조화롭게 어우러졌다.)

시금한 묵은 김치를 돼지고기볶음, 특히 비계와 싸 먹으면 한층 풍미를 더해준다.
